Galen offers in-house employment fairs for graduating and progressing students that bring in local employers, offer resume resources and tips, and provide resume reviews. Healthcare industry representatives with hiring needs regularly attend to meet Galen students. Galen also provides career placement counseling for students. Job opportunities are posted on a student communications bulletin board. In addition, links to local healthcare employers are provided on the Galen campus website. Faculty counsel students on how to pursue job openings for which they are qualified. Galen College does not guarantee job placement. Computer Discount Services
Galen has teamed with Dell and Apple to offer students a computer discount program. The Dell University Program allows students to save up to 12% on Dell list prices for Dimension Desktops and Inspiron Notebooks. The Apple Store for Education allows students to save $100.00 on all MacBooks, MacBook Airs, MacBook Pros, Mac Minis, iMacs, and Mac Pros. E-mail
Galen provides students with a customized version of Microsoft , which gives students free e-mail for life, calendar, and personal web pages, as well as the ability to have group discussions with other students. Students are given enrollment and usage instruction during orientation. Communication from the administration or faculty will be conducted primarily through Galen provided email accounts. Financial Aid
Full-time financial planning coordinators are available on all campuses to assist students in obtaining financial assistance information. Available financial assistance resources include PELL and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant ("SEOG") grants, Federal Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford loans, and Veteran's Educational benefits. Online Bookstore
Galen offers on online bookstore through EDMAP, which stocks all the required materials for Galen courses, and will ship completed orders directly to the student. EDMAP guarantees students get the right materials - including custom texts. In-stock orders placed as late as 2:30 P.M. ET ship that same business day via UPS or FedEx. EDMAP offers competitive prices – there are no surcharges for hard-to-find items. In addition, students are offered the opportunity to sell back their textbooks through the ED MAP Buyback service.
Online Communication Portal - My Galen
MyGalen is the student online communication portal designed to be used by both current and prospective students. The MyGalen portal provides current students secure, convenient access to their personal records. Prospective students are able to request information and make an appointment with an admissions representative.
Student Commons
To facilitate the busy schedules of our students, many of whom work full time in addition to attending classes full time, Galen offers a comfortable student commons area. Galen student commons are where students can grab something to eat, study or socialize between classes without leaving campus. The student commons area is equiped with comfortable seating, tables, vending machines, microwaves and refrigerators. Vending machines offer a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, snacks, chips and candy, as well as juice, soft drinks and coffee.
Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan
Clinical facilities may require students to submit proof of health insurance as a condition of attending the facility for the clinical experience. Students who fail to provide evidence of health insurance or fail to purchase group health insurance place themselves in jeopardy of not being able to attend scheduled clinical experiences or meet the requirements of the nursing course.

Student Publications
Galen provides students with information about services, resources, and responsibilities within the campus community through the Student Handbook and Student Catalog. The Student Handbook includes general information about Galen College of Nursing as well as where to go for answers, faculty credentials, student rights and responsibilities, student code of conduct, policies and procedures and licensure information. The Student Catalog includes Galen’s accreditation, approvals, memberships and affiliations, locations, admission policies, financial aid policies, academic policies, student conduct and general policies, student services information, and a full description of the nursing programs including purpose, philosophy, framework, licensure, curriculum plans and course descriptions.
In addition, Galen publishes a quarterly electronic newsletter called the Galen Pulse which is shared with students through e-mail. Galen College of Nursing also maintains a Facebook page for each campus which is used to post announcements, events and photos.
Transcript Services
Student transcripts will remain a permanent record at Galen College. Official copies of a student's transcript will be sent to employers or other schools at the student's request. Students will not be charged for the first copy of the transcript; however, a transcript fee will be charged for additional copies requested. Download a Transcript Request Form.
Uniforms
Official Galen College white uniforms with blue embroidered logo are required professional dress in the clinical settings. Participation in the Clinical Learning Laboratories require either the official Galen College white uniforms or approved Galen ceil blue scrub uniform with white embroidered logo. Galen utilizes NanCo, where students can purchase the official uniform and other required materials such as stethoscopes, bandage scissors, pen light and watch with second hand.
