Student Newsletter July 2010
Galen encourages learners, faculty and staff to continuously evolve as responsible citizens who demonstrate a spirit of generosity by providing and supporting service-oriented opportunities. The altruistic nature of service fosters an awareness of the feelings and motives of others and contributes to an individual’s sense of intrinsic worth. As such, Galen offers a wide array of student activities with a focus on service. Galen holds annual service fairs to introduce students to service organizations looking for potential volunteers as well as to bring additional community resources to campus so that students may learn about services and/or products they may need or want while a student at Galen. It is through service activities such as the Relay for Life, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk that our students socialize outside of the classroom while also making a difference in their communities.
