Galen encourages learners, faculty and staff to continuously evolve as responsible citizens who demonstrate a spirit of generosity by providing and supporting service-oriented opportunities. The altruistic nature of service fosters an awareness of the feelings and motives of others and contributes to an individual’s sense of intrinsic worth. As such, Galen offers a wide array of student activities with a focus on service.

Galen holds annual service fairs to introduce students to service organizations looking for potential volunteers as well as to bring additional community resources to campus so that students may learn about services and/or products they may need or want while a student at Galen.

It is through service activities such as the Relay for Life, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk that our students socialize outside of the classroom while also making a difference in their communities.

ONGOING STUDENT ACTIVITIES:

Saturday Study in the Student Resource Center
Join us in the Library for a study group or some quiet time alone on a Saturday. All you have to do is contact the Student Success Coordinator to set up an appointment. Time and date reservations to use the Library for Saturday Study will be made on a first come, first serve basis and will start at 10:00 am. Call Eric Annala at (502) 410-6276 or e-mail him at eric. to confirm your study group or individual Saturday Study appointment. The Library is located on the 2nd floor of the Zorn Campus.

Peer Tutor Program
Peer Tutors are now offering their expertise in many different subjects to help you better understand difficult subjects. Peer Tutors are available for both the RN and LPN courses. It is easier to understand concepts of a particular subject when they are being guided by another student who wears your same shoes. Please contact Eric Annala, Student Success Coordinator, if you would like to arrange a Peer Tutor to guide you through your coursework. Also contact Mr. Annala if you would like to become a Peer Tutor yourself: (502) 410-6276 or eric..
