Sharon A. Roberts, ARNP, MSN
Ms. Roberts is Dean of the Tampa Bay campus, appointed to the position in October of 1989. Ms. Roberts also serves as a Vice President of Galen. A native of Denver, Colorado, she received a diploma in nursing from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Denver. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University School of Nursing and a Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Indiana University School of Medicine. She received her Master of Science degree from the University of South Florida, College of Nursing with a clinical specialty in Adult Health. Ms. Roberts began her nursing career in the United States Army Nurse Corps and served in the continental United States, Republic of South Vietnam and West Germany, working as a staff nurse and head nurse in Intensive Care Units and Emergency Rooms. She was discharged in 1972 with the rank of Captain. She then moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and while obtaining her Bachelor's degree, she worked at Wishard Memorial Hospital as a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit and in the Emergency Room as Assistant Director of Nursing. She joined Galen, formerly Humana, in 1978 as Associate Executive Director of Nursing at Gibson General Hospital in Trenton, Tennessee. In 1980, she was promoted to Associate Executive Director of Nursing at Humana Hospital - St. Petersburg, where she remained until she was appointed Dean. |
