Student Orientation
A mandatory orientation program is offered to familiarize students with the program and services provided by Galen College. Students have an opportunity to meet the Program Director, faculty members, staff and other students. Various school policies and procedures are covered at Orientation, including but not limited to: Attendance, Grievance Procedure, Dress Code, and Code of Conduct.
Liability Insurance
Galen College carries general and professional liability coverage for students through CNA Insurance Company. This coverage insures Galen’s student nurses at the clinical facility.
Academic Advisement
For academic assistance, students may schedule an appointment with faculty members, who can assist in study skills as well as address other academic needs.
Career Placement Counseling
Galen College offers quarterly in-house job fairs for graduating and progressing students. Healthcare industry representatives with hiring needs regularly attend to meet Galen students.
Galen College provides career placement counseling for students. As Galen College is notified of job opportunities, listings are provided. Both the Program Director and faculty will counsel students in pursuing job openings for which they are qualified.
All job listings will be posted on a student communications bulletin board. Galen College, however, does not guarantee job placement.
Student Resource Center
The Student Resource Center is open to all enrolled students. Reference books can be checked out through the administrative office. The Student Resource Center is equipped with computers connected to the Internet using high-speed access.
Personal Counseling
Galen is committed to helping students progress successfully through the academic challenges of the nursing program. A school counselor is available, at no cost, to provide confidential guidance for a wide variety of personal issues, such as test anxiety, learning struggles, interpersonal conflict, family struggles, depression, and anxiety.
