We realize that cost may be a factor in your decision to attend. Approximately 85% of Galen students receive some type of financial assistance and a full-time financial planning coordinator is available to assist students in obtaining financial assistance information. Available resources for those who qualify include PELL and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (“SEOG”) grants, Federal Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford loans, Veteran’s Educational benefits, cash payment plans and private student loan programs.

Federal aid, which includes grants and Stafford Loans, is not based on any credit requirements.

Most of your federal aid, if you qualify, will go towards covering the cost of tuition. If you need money for living expenses, you may need to look into private loans. Students are advised to consider this aspect before they begin applying for college.

You may be able to request an in-school deferment, which would allow you to defer payments until you graduate or withdraw from your current school. Contact your Financial Planning Coordinator for details.

With federal loans, you are given a 6-month grace period during which no payment is due after you graduate or withdraw from school.

Financial aid is based on the FAFSA and not on your credit rating. If you have a defaulted student loan, however, or owe a PELL Grant overpayment, you are not eligible for further financial aid until payment is resolved.
