Transferring Credit Earned at Other Institutions
If you are attending or have attended a school other than Galen College with related courses, you may be able to transfer those courses. To be considered for acceptance at Galen as a transfer student an applicant must submit an application to Galen.
Before admission, applicants must have a copy of the transcript sent to Galen directly from each school, college, or university attended since high school. The Admissions, Progressions & Graduation Committee will evaluate the transcript and may request a copy of the school catalog with course descriptions and /or a syllabus for the course. Courses must be from an accredited school. Course grades must have been "C" or higher for each course to be considered for transfer credit.
For applicants considering the LPN to RN program, only general education courses listed in our curriculum plan may be candidates for transferring in to Galen. Non-science courses will be considered if the work has been completed within the last 10 years. Science-oriented general education courses will be considered if they have been completed within the last 5 years. Galen generally will not accept for transfer any nursing courses required for the RN program.
Final approval shall be at the discretion of the Program Director and the Admissions, Progressions & Graduation Committee. Tuition will be adjusted to reflect credits for coursework approved for transfer.
Transfer credits will not be evaluated prior to completion of the application process.
